Feng Shui: The Art of Placement to Harmonize the Flow of Life Force Energy
Gretchen Hansen is a certified Feng Shui consultant. Feng Shui is the Chinese art of placement to harmonize the flow of life force energy in the home and workplace. Since 2003, she has specialized in the application of Feng Shui in the workplace. Feng Shui started 2000 years ago in China as the study of nature. Humankind desired to understand how nature preserved harmony and balance through the flow of life force energy, or “Chi.” Over many years, observations and experiments were consolidated into a body of knowledge now referred to as Feng Shui. The goal of a Feng Shui consultation is to identify how best to improve or augment the flow of life force energy through…

CAM Not So Alternative Anymore: Holistic Healing Research Supports Efficacy in OT Practice
Here is an article I co-wrote with Holistic OT, Mandy Lubas. It was published in ADVANCE Magazine for Occupational Therapy Practitioners on June 10, 2013. While this is geared toward Occupational Therapy Practitioners, it is applicable to us all – whether you are a practitioner of health care or one who uses holistic care. The Power of the Mind in Healing
Here is an article I wrote for the Holistic OT column in ADVANCE Magazine for Occupational Therapy Practitioners. It highlights how the mind can heal and prevent disease and illness. Enjoy! New research shows we all have the ability to self-heal and prevent diseases. Mind-body healing can actually “switch on” or “switch off” gene activity or gene expression associated with disease. As occupational therapists, we can integrate these approaches into our lives and assist our clients with recovery and disease prevention for health and well-being. I had the honor of interviewing one of the premier mind-body healing physicians and researchers, Dr. Herbert Benson, MD, for this article. His research shows…

Expanding Holistic Care in to Mainstream Health Care
I am grateful to be able to share a Holistic OT column with Mandy Lubas, OTR/L in ADVANCE Magazine for Occupational Therapy Practitioners. We wrote this article, “Complementary and Alternative Medicine is an Emerging Specialty Practice Area in the Profession” in the Fall of 2012. We received such great reviews and responses that we now have a whole column dedicated to bringing Holistic – Mind, Body, Spirit Medicine in to health care through Occupational Therapy practice. This is the first article for our new column, “Light on Holistic OT.” Enjoy and thank you for all of the great support!
