Occupational Therapists Complete The Power of the Mind in Healing Class
I just finished up teaching the “Power of the Mind in Healing” class. We met for four Saturdays in February. I had the pleasure of teaching two occupational therapists who have been practicing for nearly 20 years. In fact, they were in the graduating class right after me at St. Kate’s. We covered topics on the foundations of Holistic/Integrative Health Care, the Mind-Body-Spirit, meditation, relaxation, spirituality, and intuition. They loved it! Here they are practicing muscle energy testing. This is different than testing muscle strength. Mindfulness and Acceptance – What Does it Mean?
Mindfulness is all a buzz now, and for good reason. Mindfulness shows us how to be with and accept our reactions to our experiences in a non-judgmental way. It can help us to learn to love and accept ourselves and others more, lower stress, anxiety, depression, pain, enhance our health, help us prevent disease, and create sense of calm, peace, and joy. It is a skill that allows us to be with our senses without reacting to them in a negative way. What resists persists, and if we resist our experience we can feel worse.
