Mayo Clinic Gives Green Light to Many Alternative Medicines

The Part I title of Mayo Clinic Guide to Alternative Medicine 2011 is

“Today’s New Medicine: Making Wellness the Focus of Care.” In this introduction, it says:

“As studies continue to reveal the important role the mind plays in healing and in fighting disease, a transformation is slowly taking place in hospitals and clinics across the country. Doctors, in partnership with their patients, are turning to practices once considered ‘alternative’ as they attempt to treat the whole person – mind and spirit, as well as body.”

One of the approaches given the green light is Guided Imagery. Here is what they have to say about it:

“Guided Imagery gets the green light because it’s an important tool in treating a variety of health problems. It provides benefits and it poses virtually no risk. Guided Imagery is used in many medical settings to help manage an array of conditions and diseases from stresses to pain to the side effects of cancer.”

Thanks Mayo Clinic, for validating these fabulous approaches and helping them to become mainstream!
